Post-cholecystectomy syndrome and what problems do you have?

It is possible that there will be problems that need to be removed, such as the emergence of many stones that cause great pain, then resorting to their eradication is necessary, and at the same time their eradication does not affect public health.

What is the direct cause of gallbladder removal?

Usually, the gallbladder is removed due to the presence of painful stones that cause great pain, this pain is caused by a defect in the bile during its production.

Many people have stones but do not feel their presence. On the other hand, the stones may block the passage of the yolk and irritate the gallbladder or pancreas, which is called (acute cholecystitis) or (acute pancreatitis), when a person feels several symptoms, including:

  • Severe pain in the abdomen.
  • pallor.
  • yellowing of the eyes.
  • Feeling tired and sick.

Sometimes these stones are dissolved by taking tablets for the treatment of stones, and this method is long-term and may reach two years and has little effect, but the largest number of patients need to perform the eradication process to get rid of their pain.

Types of cholecystectomy

  1. The surgery is done in two ways, the first method, by making small holes and extracting the gallbladder by laparoscopic, and this method is more used at the present time due to its advantages, as it does not require a long time to heal and its pain is less.
  2. The patient can be discharged from the hospital on the same day or the second day. Also, you can return to your normal life in just a week or two.
  3. The second method is performed by opening and removing the abdomen, and this method is more painful and longer for the recovery period.
  4. Where the patient needs to stay in the hospital for four or five days, and the healing time of the wound in the gallbladder operation is long, lasting for 6 weeks or more.
  5. Both methods are performed under general anesthesia, which means that you will be asleep and will not feel pain completely during the surgery.

Abdominal bloating after gallbladder surgery

Most of the time, you will not suffer from problems after the resection, but there are people who suffer from flatulence or diarrhea, and this affects their daily work and is annoying.

This bloating occurs after the liver produces bile, and after removing its store, which is the gallbladder, then this substance will drip and fall continuously into the digestive system.

After knowing the direct cause of bloating, your intestines will become more sensitive to foods and drinks, and within a period of time you can find out the type of food that increases the problem of bloating so that you try to stay away from it as much as possible.

Although this problem can disappear within a few weeks, you may need to follow a diet that suits your current situation, which will have a great effect in getting rid of flatulence.

Diet after gallbladder removal

It is likely that the doctor will ask you to follow a diet before the operation, but after the operation, most people do not need to follow a diet in the absence of problems, because the gallbladder is not one of the necessary organs in the digestive process.

It is normal for you to start eating in small quantities after the operation, but if you experience some side effects from the removal process such as flatulence, diarrhea or indigestion, then it is preferable to follow a special diet that mitigates these effects.

Changing some eating habits and sticking to them will enable you to get rid of these problems. We will remind you of some tips that will help you solve the problem of flatulence, namely:

  • Stay away from caffeinated drinks such as tea and coffee.
  • Avoid fatty foods that contain a lot of oils and fats, as well as spicy foods.
  • Stop eating sweets and sugars, as these types of foods aggravate the problem of diarrhea.
  • Introduce fiber gradually into your diet. Include many healthy foods that contain fiber, such as: fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, wheat bread, nuts, pasta, oats, and other foods.
  • Consume high-protein, low-fat meats such as chicken and fish.

Try to stick to these nutritional tips for at least a month, after which you can gradually return to your usual diet.

The diet helps the intestines to deal with the bile, which falls from the liver on it. Diet and a little exercise help the body digest fats and not accumulate them.

If you have diarrhea, you should go to the doctor to prescribe an appropriate treatment for diarrhea. Diarrhea may last longer compared to other effects, flatulence and indigestion disappear within two weeks.

stool after gallbladder operation

In addition to the known problems after anesthesia and any other operation, the gallbladder process may affect the stool, as it becomes liquid close to the watery form.

In some people who develop diarrhea after this procedure, this problem may persist for a few weeks or months. If you continue to have these symptoms, contact your doctor immediately:
  • Constant rise in temperature.
  • Abdominal pain.
  • Increase and strength of diarrhea.
